Questions, answered
The things people ask most, answered plainly.
Booking
Which dates are you currently booking?
I'm booking 2026 dates only at the moment. If your event falls in 2026, I'd love to hear from you — send over your date and I'll check availability.
How far in advance should I book?
Most couples book three to six months ahead, and popular weekends go first. If your date is set, don't wait — a quick message is all it takes to check availability.
How do I hold my date?
A signed contract and a 50% non-refundable retainer hold your date and confirm the booking. If I ever have to cancel, you receive everything back in full. Remaining details are covered in the contract before you sign.
Can I reschedule if plans change?
Life happens — I understand. Rescheduling is subject to my availability on the new date, so tell me as early as you can and I'll do everything possible to make it work.
What is your cancellation policy?
The 50% retainer is non-refundable if you cancel or postpone — it holds a date I turn other work away from. If I ever have to cancel, you receive everything back in full. The exact terms are set out in the contract before you sign.
Pricing & payment
What is your standard rate?
My standard rate is $200 per hour with a four-hour minimum. The packages on the Pricing page bundle that time with deliverables, and they're the best value for most events.
Are there any hidden fees?
No. The price we agree on is the price you pay. Anything that could add cost — extra hours, expedited delivery — is discussed with you and approved before it happens.
Do you charge for travel?
There's no travel fee anywhere between San Francisco and San Jose. For events further afield, I'll quote a modest travel cost up front so there are no surprises.
How can I pay?
Zelle, cash, or check — whichever is easiest for you. Payment details and the schedule are laid out clearly in the contract.
What if my event runs longer than planned?
I won't vanish at the stroke of the booked hour. Overtime is billed in half-hour increments at my standard rate, and I'll always check with you before continuing.
How I work
Can you shoot both photo and video at my event?
I work one discipline per booking — photography or film, never both at once. Doing either well demands complete attention, and splitting focus means both suffer. If you'd like both, I'm happy to recommend trusted colleagues to cover the other.
Do you bring a second shooter?
No — it's always just me. One photographer means one consistent eye, one editing style, and one person who knows exactly where the story is at every moment.
What is candid coverage?
Candid coverage is my documentary-only option at about 25% off standard rates. I photograph your event exactly as it unfolds — no posing, no directing. It requires that you have a main photographer booked, because candid coverage doesn't include the ceremony, vows, formals, or getting-ready coverage.
Do you shoot South Asian weddings?
Yes — often, and with real joy. Sangeet, jaggo, haldi, mehndi, nikkah, baraat, multi-day celebrations — I know the rhythm of these events and where the moments happen.
Who will actually show up on the day?
Me — Bhavesh. Every inquiry, every shoot, every edit. The person you talk to is the person behind the camera, always.
Your photographs
When will we receive our photos or film?
Four to eight weeks standard, depending on the season and the scope of your event. Expedited delivery is available for a fee — ask before booking.
How is everything delivered?
Your finished photos and films are delivered through a private cloud gallery — view online, download in full resolution, and share with family. Files stay available for 30 days, so download and back up your copies within that window.
Can we print our photos?
You receive a personal-use license: print, share, post, and gift your photos and films freely. Two things stay reserved — editing or filtering the finished work, and commercial use. Full copyright ownership is available for a flat $999. Exact terms are covered in the contract before you sign.
Can we post our photos on social media?
Please do — I love seeing them out in the world, and credit is always appreciated. I'd only ask one thing: no filters. The photographs are carefully edited already, and a filter undoes that work.
Will you use our photos in your portfolio?
Yes — and openly so. The first question every potential client asks is "can I see your work?" — the galleries on this site exist because past clients said yes to that same question. If you'd prefer your event stays fully private, you can purchase full copyright ownership for a flat $999: everything becomes exclusively yours, and nothing from your event is shared or displayed anywhere by me.
On the day
What if the weather turns?
Then we adapt — it's part of the craft. Fog, rain, harsh sun: I've shot in all of it, and some of my favorite frames came from weather that wasn't in the plan.
What if your equipment fails?
I carry backups of everything — bodies, lenses, batteries, cards — and photos are written to two cards at once as I shoot, so a single failure doesn't cost you the day.
What happens if you're ill on our date?
It hasn't happened yet, but there's a plan: I'll work my network to find you a trusted replacement, and we'll make it right if that isn't possible — details are covered in the contract before you sign.
Can we meet before the event?
I'd welcome it. A call or a coffee before the day means we start as familiar faces, and it helps me plan the coverage around what matters most to you.
